Oh man I can relate to this. I guess it's just the shock or adrenaline that makes you keep going. I recently got hit by a car while biking. It didn't feel so bad at the time, just some road rash and a sore knee (which I later learned was fractured). So instead of confronting the guy I just got up and kept walking to my destination. Funny how you're mind just goes into autopilot when something crazy like this happens.

The same thing happend to me two nights ago. I was jogging around the city (I live in the country without sidewalks so I opt to jog after work where there are sidewalks and crosswalks). Ironicly, I got hit while on a crosswalk. I looked ahead and saw nothing coming so I crossed, but a lady darted across the road and I saw her coming but did not have time to move out of the way. It felt like time stood still. I remember screaming and thinking " I'm going to die." I hit the hood and landed on my butt on the ground and braced myself with my palms. I stood up and screamed something at her like "what you were thinking, I was on a crosswalk." "You could have killed me and I have 3 young children to take care of at home!" She just looked at me and said "well, its not like I did it on purpose." She didn't even really seem that apologetic. A guy stopped to help me and he called the cops and before I knew it every siren in the city was around me. The EMT crew checked me out and said I appeared to be fine but that they would take me to the hospital. I opted not to and just walked to the parking lot where I work, got in my car and drove home. It wasn't until I got home that I realized what had happened. Just saying I got hit by a car scares the daylights out of me. I don't think I will jog on the road anymore. I'm going to stick to the recreational trails from this point on. I'm almost nervous to jog at all again. Just reading that someone out there had a similarly frightening experience is almost reassuring. Thanks for posting this.

Glad you're okay Scott. I've personally been hit by cars on my bike a total of 5 times. Now, I know for 2 of these, I am to blame, but thats besides the point. Each and every time I have remained uninjured and ALWAYS kept going. I simply checked my bike and kept on peddling. It's a normal reaction to just keep going as if nothing happened, your body is responding to shock by getting away from the trauma area. Then there's also the adrenaline that is starting to pump through your veins, blotting out any pain and further focusing your mind on whatever it was you were doing.

Really glad your OK Scott.

If our lives are actually videogames being played by beings in some great beyond, then I guess you used up an 'extralife' somewhere in the scheme of things. ;-)

They say that which does not kill you makes you stronger...so I guess your right butt-cheek has a +1 to AC now.

Dude, 'keep running' is the one thing that you're NOT supposed to do when a car hits you. That feeling is adrenaline from the fear of BEING HIT BY A MOVING VEHICLE and you should wait until you calm down to see if you've done any damage. You're lucky you didn't injure yourself further. XD

Dammit! I am SO not paying that guy the other half... I mean, uh, glad you're okay, dude! ;)

Seriously, I'm glad you're not hurt. I have a friend who got nailed by a car & broke his leg in three places. Be careful out there!

You should call the "Pbrlankt" guy to decipher for you.

Glad you're okay, I don't know how the podesphere would function without you.
